The town of Lititz’s website shamelessly promotes the upcoming homosexual celebration on June 17, 2023, with these vacuous words: “Love is love is love and we love Lititz!” Of course, the hate group Lititz Chooses Love has the audacity to claim “love” as their central feature.
But instead of looking to crossdressing men and kowtowing town boards for our definition of love, I suggest we turn to the Holy Bible – you know that book that has stood the test of time and will be around long after Lititz Chooses Love and their nihilistic worldview crumbles at the feet of Christ.
The Apostle John, sometimes referred to as the apostle of love, doesn’t give us hollow mantras. He gives us weighty statements and eternal truth. Let’s start with this: “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:8).
John does not say “love is love,” but “God is love.” But he gets even more specific. This is not some vague, pantheistic god of the pagans. This is the one true God, revealed in Christ Jesus: “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).
Already we have far more substance to our definition than a drag queen in a leotard can handle. But John is not done yet: “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us” (1 John 4:15-16a). God’s special love is only experienced in Jesus Christ – those who refuse to believe in Jesus are outside of the love of God in salvation. We invite them to come to Christ, but so long as they reject him, they know not the love of God.
I hope we are beginning to see the absurdity of a useless phrase like ‘love is love’ ever coming from the Apostle John’s pen. John was a man who experienced the love of God in Jesus Christ, saw his fellow apostles martyred, and was exiled for his faith. The love of God meant something to John; it means nothing to the Lititz town board and rainbow flag waving sodomites.
Unlike apostate Moravian pastors in Lititz, the Apostle John truly embraced love. So much so, that he could not stop writing about it. Thus, John wrote: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments” (1 John 5:3a).
This is how we can be confident that Lititz Chooses Love, Lancaster Pride, and their prideful celebrations of sin in our county have nothing to do with love: the love of God means we obey his laws.
The Apostle Paul, another man who knew a thing or two about love, warned that “neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality…will inherit the kingdom of God” (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). The Bible commands us to “flee from sexual immorality” (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to hold marriage “in honor” (Hebrews 13:4). Love means we obey these commandments. Love does not mean we celebrate sin.
Speaking of love, the “love of Christ” compels us to plead with unrepentant sinners to turn from their sin and be reconciled to God in Christ (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:14, 20).
And speaking of empty phrases, the website for Lititz claims that an “inclusive community” is a thriving community. More useless dribble this.
The Bible says “righteousness” – not inclusivity – “exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).
Jesus Christ rejects pride celebrations and perverted concepts of “love.” This is because, as the Bible says, Christ loves righteousness and hates wickedness (cf. Hebrews 1:9). Therefore, the residents of Lancaster County must reject the empty words of “love is love is love,” and instead embrace real love by obeying the one who loves righteousness and hates wickedness.

We should be harder on those in the church who are sexually immoral. Instead we sweep it under the rug. Just like we should be harder on those in the Republican Party who mess up. We should not expect the unsaved to understand. Instead of boycotts we should be out witnessing. The Republican Party is literally defending a sexually immoral pervert yet will say he is great Christian.
David, generally, I agree. As far as witnessing, that is why we are going out to the sodomy sin fest in Lititz again this year. See http://www.IRBC.church/stoppride. And as far as critiquing the Republican Party — I’ve lost more readers for doing that than anything else. But I will continue to speak the truth. Thank you for criticizing the Republican Party. For all the “conservatives” who think either Trump or DeSantis are going to rescue us:
“. . . for vain is the salvation of man!
With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.”
Another truthful article. That’s why I read the Lancaster Patriot every week. Thank you!
