A southern Lancaster County businessman is aiming to unseat Bryan Cutler from his long-held position as Pennsylvania State Representative from the 100th district.
During a private event Wednesday at Twin Brook Retreat in Gap, David Nissley announced that he will be challenging the Republican incumbent in the spring primary.
“Cutler’s leadership in the House has created dysfunction and disloyalty,” Nissley said during the event, also pointing out that “Cutler has personally been responsible for Act 77.”
Nissley, of Salisbury Township, spoke to approximately 50 people about the need to restore the Republican Party and follow the Constitution. Nissley also spoke about Cutler’s vote for a Democrat Speaker of the House, calling it an “act of betrayal.”
A press release from his campaign lists “property tax reform, standing for life, increasing school choice, de-regulating small businesses, and restoring integrity in elections” as Nissley’s legislative priorities.
Nissley, who owns Vintage Landscaping, is married to Lillian and the couple has four grown children. Nissley grew up in the Amish Mennonite Church and currently serves as a deacon at Chestnut Church in Christiana.
Cutler has been serving in the Pennsylvania House since 2006.
In 2022, Anne Weston unsuccessfully challenged Cutler in the Republican Primary. Cutler garnered 6,163 votes. Weston received 2,609.
Nissley is scheduled to speak about his campaign at a grassroots event Saturday in Quarryville featuring several members of the Pennsylvania Freedom Caucus.
Hallelujah! We’re in Tom Jones district, but would definitely help campaign for him. Thank you for the information.
