A Mercersburg woman was sentenced last week to 18 months of probation and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty to charges related to a 2020 riot in Lancaster, according to a press release.
Kathyrn Patterson, 23, was charged with failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, defiant trespass, and obstruction of highways for her role in the riots at the Lancaster City Bureau of Police station the night of Sept. 13 into Sept. 14 in 2020.
Additional charges against Patterson were dropped after she willingly assisted in a separate investigation by law enforcement.
The 2020 riot saw over 100 protestors gather at an access ramp on the west side of the police station and advance up the ramp, failing to disperse after public address system warnings that chemical munitions would be deployed. Members of the crowd threw water bottles, glass, rocks, bricks, and other objects at police officers, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.
Lancaster County Judge Merrill Spahn sentenced Patterson, one of 11 adults arrested after the 2020 riot.
Ten other participants in the riot were previously found guilty or pleaded guilty.
Matthew Modderman, an LNP|LancasterOnline employee at the time, pleaded nolo contendre to summary disorderly conduct for a $300 fine.
