A 21-year-old Lancaster man received a non-life-threatening wound during a shooting incident in Lancaster, police say.
On Oct. 19, 2022 at 4:42 PM police were dispatched for a shooting incident at Turkey Hill, located in the 5000 block of Main Street, in East Petersburg Borough. An employee at Turkey Hill reported that a BMW X2 hatch-back operated by an adult male pulled into the parking lot, exited the vehicle, and appeared to have sustained an injury consistent with a shooting.
Upon arrival, police found a vehicle that had been struck numerous times from an obvious shooting incident. An infant child, found unharmed, had likely been in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, a police report indicates.
The victim/driver was transported to the hospital via ambulance for further evaluation and treatment. NLCRPD Detectives interviewed the male victim at the hospital and others connected with the incident. The infant child was cared for by family members who had arrived on the scene.
Police say the preliminary evidence suggests that the shooting did not take place in East Petersburg. The driver allegedly dropped off a female passenger north of Penn Township and was returning to Lancaster when the shooting occurred.
The vehicle was removed from the Turkey Hill parking area and secured in police custody for evidentiary purposes.
The investigation is ongoing.
