Democrat leaders claimed during a Wednesday press conference that they will have at least the 102 seats needed to flip the state House, following the 2022 midterm elections on Tuesday.
Results are unofficial, but if the Democrats’ claim proves true, Republican State Rep. Bryan Cutler will be replaced as speaker of the Pa. House by Democrat Joanna McClinton.
Republicans retain control of the state Senate.
Democrats also performed strongly in the U.S. Senate and Pa. gubernatorial races, respectively. Republican Mehmet Oz conceded to Democrat John Fetterman on Wednesday. And AP News declared Democrat Josh Shapiro the winner in his race against Republican Doug Mastriano for Pa. governor.
