A Columbia man faces charges after allegedly engaging in sexual acts with a minor under the age of 16 in his home and videotaping at least one of the incidents.
John W. Wakefield Jr., 47, of the first block of South Fourth Street, was charged on Oct. 25 with felony counts of statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors and a misdemeanor indecent assault charge for the incidents dating back to February.
According to an affidavit of probable cause:
A Columbia Police Department patrol officer was dispatched on Sept. 21 to investigate a report of ongoing sexual abuse of children. The caller informed police that he was concerned two female children, who were his neighbors, were being abused after he was given an “SD” card containing a video of Wakefield engaging in sexual contact with one of the victims.
Police contacted Lancaster County Children & Youth Agency and arranged for “safe residency” for both children.
Detectives reviewed the video on the card and found Wakefield assaulting the victim.
The victim was interviewed on Oct. 5 and told police the assaults by Wakefield started in February and continued until September, telling investigators she had sexual contact and/or intercourse with Wakefield “more times than she could count.” She said the assaults took place at Wakefield’s home in the living room, bathroom, her bedroom and Wakefield’s bedroom.
Wakefield was arraigned before District Judge Miles K. Bixler on Nov. 2 and was released on $50,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 10.
I talked to his wife and she said she is sticking by her man. She blames the girl for inviting her adoptive dad, bio uncle into her bedroom. So sick of these moms protecting these pedophiles…ugh sick!
The so called mother should be in jail as well. Lancaster county gives around 500 per month per adopted child. She was probably using these girls for money.

Scum of the earth right there. If it is true about the wife not letting her daughters come home from foster home/shelter so he could stay there during court, then she is just as sick and probably knew it was going on. How could you stay with a man that cheats on you with your own child…..gross
