Jason Shackelford, 39, of Columbia was charged with criminal homicide on Feb. 10 for a killing that occurred in Columbia earlier this month.
According to a statement from the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Shackelford admitted to raping and killing his girlfriend’s 12-year-old daughter on the night of Feb. 8 into the morning of Feb. 9. He said he then attempted to conceal the victim’s body in a freezer in the basement of a home in the 500 block of Avenue H in Columbia.
Columbia Borough Police discovered the body of a juvenile female inside a chest freezer in the basement of the home.
Shackelford is currently in Lancaster County Prison.
