The Amish are sometimes presented as a model “parallel economy” to emulate. They are able to provide many goods and services, sometimes without being connected to the same infrastructure as others. However, statist attacks on the Amish have increased (not decreased) in recent years. Can any parallel economy, focused on serving neighbors, exist if statism is the law of the land? Ex-Amishman Dave Stoltzfus joins Joel Saint, Luke Saint, and Chris Hume on this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast.

Chris,
With all due respect what you and the others on the podcast are missing is that you are unaware of the fact that you are unaware of your adversary (the civil government’s) legal authority to impose its municipal regulation on its citizens.
One of you said, “we just want to be left alone.”
Someone who has voluntarily submitted himself to the dominion of such a form of government and pledge his absolute allegiance and fidelity to that government can hardly expect to be “left alone” and not pay the TRIBUTE tax to their superior master. Only the diligent shall bear rule over himself and his property. The slothful shall be under TRIBUTE and a “tax” is a CONTRIBUTION not a debt.
“Citizenship” is a political TIE, allegiance is a territorial tenure. The doctrine is, that allegiance cannot be due to two sovereigns; and taking an oath of allegiance to a new sovereign [King Jesus perhaps], is the strongest evidence of withdrawing allegiance from a previous sovereign [the United States federal government as a federal citizen]. Talbot v. Janson, 3 U.S. 133 (1795) taken from the syllabus but not the opinion.
Nevertheless, this idea is consistent with “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Luke 16;13
“The citizen CANNOT complain, because he has VOLUNTARILY SUBMITTED HIMSELF to such a form of government. He OWES allegiance to the two departments so to speak, and within their respective spheres MUST PAY THE PENALTIES which each exacts for DISOBEDIENCE to ITS [civil or municipal] laws. In return he [the federal citizen] can demand PROTECTION from each within its own jurisdiction.” United States v. Cruikshank 92 U.S 542 (1875)
Citizenship is the STATUS or standing of being a citizen. Where is the citizenship of God’s people?
Our citizenship is in the Kingdom of Heaven so our status or standing is different from that of U.S. federal citizens. Where one stands determines his domicile and his citizenship and ultimately who he is – either a regenerate spiritual man of God or an unregenerate natural man, natural person/ human being/highest form of primate.
Your podcast would be more useful to the listeners if you spend more time on the solution to the problems you are complaining about that pertain to government regulations rather than on complaining about the ever increasing obligations and duties placed upon federal citizens and inhabitants domiciled within the state who have voluntarily submitted themself to the “dominion” or “perfect control in right of ownership” to these municipal government at every level and their municipal regulations.
What God’s people do not want, is a substantial connection within the forum state in order to avoid the “statutory” protection provided by that state to its citizens and which connection requires the citizen’s allegiance and obedience to the states’ municipal laws or pay the penalties for disobedience.
However, we do want to retain the protection of the laws – i.e. common or criminal laws – constitutionally recognizes and which laws are not connected with the organization or administration of government such as, the rights of property, marriage, protection of the laws, freedom of contract, trial by jury etc. Winnett v. Adams 71, Neb. 817, 99 N.W. 681
These right existed before the formation of man’s governments.
God only authorizes the criminal law and the common law.
Municipal laws are for statutory citizens of the United States federal government and inhabitants who have established their domicile in the state. As one of you said, “We are strangers and pilgrims in the world.” If you really believe that then you need to declare that you are seeking a heavenly country and CONFESS as did Abraham where you STAND in relation to others in the community who are statutory citizens subject to the municipal laws of the civil government.
The KEY to being left alone is to not be subject to these many municipal regulations that only acquire the “force and effect of law” on PERSONS who are in the “class of persons” that have voluntarily submitted themselves to the dominion of or perfect control in right of ownership to the federal government and pledged their absolute allegiance and fidelity thereto.
